P.E.E.P.S is both the protagonist and the signature of generally wordless dystopian narratives, most of them published as part of collective publications, in print or online, since 2003 (Chez Jérôme Comix, Le Journal de Judith & Marinette, Lapin, Récits, Tetaris, Appendix, 40.075km, Grandpapier, etc).
A flip-book was also published (ed. FLBLB 2004), along with several animated films, including five animated music videos made for Experience, Yea Big & Kid Static, Kool A.D and Michel Cloup.
A series of drawings, LA MÉMOIRE EN MIETTES, punctuates the whole in the form of hallucinatory flashes in black & white and color.
CONTEXT
An anonymous megacity, endless avenues, the nighttime flicker of speeding-car collisions, run-down residential neighborhoods, children in anti-radiation suits, hospital terminals positioned along the main thoroughfares, a mysterious and omnipresent company called “Sasros”…
A powerless witness to an urban nightmare, a frail B-Boy with a large scar slashed across his face drifts through perilous situations that often leave him no choice but to flee. His arm is also split by a gash from which an abstract vapor escapes, and he drifts alongside a tiny muzzled dog.
PEEPS belongs to a fringe of misfits, outcasts and “addicts to lack”, irreducibly resistant to an environment whose imperfection and toxicity they reflect. PEEPS, too, lives under biometric surveillance and must periodically plug himself into one of the hospital terminals lining the sidewalks of the megacity.
